Walter Herbst
Walter is currently, Director, mpd² program, Clinical Professor, Northwestern University. Founding partner, Herbst LaZar Bell (HLB), Chicago IL in 1962. Partner Herbst Produkt, Silicon Valley, 2010.
He created the mpd2 (Master of Product Design and Development Management) program as the only program in the country that deals with the totality of all issues related to product development.
He serves on the Advisory Board for the Department of Material Sciences at Arizona State University as well as serving on the Advisory Board for the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, for the School of Art and Design. He holds over 125 patents in hardware, housewares, and health-care. Clients included: Gillette, Papermate, Popeil Brothers, Sunbeam, Emco, Dexide, Searle, Clorox, Plano and Raytheon.
He continues to win design awards, through Herbst Produkt, winning a coveted ‘Edison Award’ for each of the last 7 years. In 2018, he was inaugurated into the National Inventors Academy.
