BJ Krivanek

BJ Krivanek is a public design-artist: principal of Krivanek+Breaux/ Art+Design, professor of visual communication at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and founding artistic director of Community Architexts. With his partner, he develops and produces collaborative urban communication programs, infiltrating the urban landscape with metaphoric forms, infrastructures and media, integrating the languages of architecture and technology with the lost languages of diverse urban communities. Collaborating with communities, design teams and funders such as the NEA/Design Arts Program and CTA/Chicago, his permanent site constructions and performative site activations in Chicago, Los Angeles, Phoenix and elsewhere include the 9/11 Memorial at LAX/Los Angeles. His work has been honored/published in numerous venues such as AIGA, SEGD and Graphis annuals and included in the inaugural National Design Triennial at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum/New York.
